Maximilien Tisserand
Maximilien’s path in architecture has been shaped by curiosity and movement. Originally from France, his journey has taken him through the UK, Eastern Europe, Australia, and Aotearoa New Zealand – where he found not only a place to work, but one to grow.
Blending European rigour with a grounded design sensibility, Maximilien sees architecture not as the pursuit of form, but as a framework for life. His work is rooted in contextual awareness, material honesty, and an ethic of care. He believes good architecture listens first and then acts with clarity.
He has worked across projects at a wide range of scales, from civic and urban developments in Europe to education and multi-residential buildings Down Under. His experience spans both high-end and community-focused work, shaping a practice that is thoughtful, precise, and quietly ambitious.
Maximilien brings a calm intensity to his projects and is drawn to projects where conceptual clarity and construction pragmatism go hand in hand. He values simplicity – not as a style, but as a discipline.
When he’s not cycling to work, you’ll find him lingering over a late breakfast, out tramping in the bush, or swimming in cold water just for the thrill of it.
